The word Cross comes from the Greek word Stauros and Latin word Crux which had been used as a means of punishing the crimi
nals. According to the Bible this was practiced in Persia as mentioned in Ezra 6:11. Crucifixion was practiced in Phoenicia and Carthage areas. Later the Romans began to use it. We find four types of Crosses used in the history. The first type is called Simplex and it looked like English letter I. The second type was called Decussata or the Cross of St. Andrew and it looked like English letter X. The third type was called Commissa and it looked like English letter T and the fourth type was called Immissaand it looked like a sword ✝️. According to the tradition our Lord Jesus was crucified on this fourth type of Cross.
Lesson: To the followers of Christ the Cross of Christ is something to boast of.
