Fanny J. Crosby (1820-1915) was the author of more than 8,500 gospel songs. Fanny became blind at 6 weeks of age and at the age of 6 she started composing songs. One of the most popular and immortal songs composed by her "Jesus keep me near the Cross, there a precious fountain..." talks about the glory of the Cross which she visualised through her inner eyes. Once D. L. Moody asked Fanny "If you could have just one wish granted, what would you wish?" Moody thought she would definitely ask for sight in her eyes. She replied, "If I could have one wish granted, I would wish that I might continue blind the rest of my life." Surprised Moody asked her, "How can you say that?" She replied, "Because after being blind for all these years, the first face I want to see now is the face of Jesus." "Jesus keep me near the Cross..." captures the hope and joy in Jesus in heaven that is to be revealed as soon as we enter into glory.
Lesson: *The Cross is the sign of hope and joy to every believer. And at the end of the earthly life the Cross beckons every believer's soul to find rest beyond the river.*
Wishing you a blessed day 💐
