Maturity in Christ

Once an ancient king commanded his wise joker/jester of his court to prepare for him the finest dish in the world. He quickly prepared a dish made of tongues. The king then asked him to prepare the worst dish in the world. He went and quickly prepared again a dish made of tongues. The King asked the joker why he prepared the dishes of tongues for both purposes. The jester replied, "The tongue is the greatest blessing when it is wisely used, whereas the same tongue is the greatest curse when it is foolishly used."
Let these be the lessons for this Lenten period:

Do every good work silently.
Love God and all silently.
Do our own duty silently.
Contribute and give silently.
Accept God's will silently.
Bear another's fault silently.
Bear humiliation silently.
Sacrifice secretly and silently.
Meditate silently.
Carry our own Cross silently.
Pray and ask God silently.
Fast secretly and silently.
Look towards heaven silently.
Practice and attain virtues silently.
Persevere until death silently.

Lesson: Any sacrifice, patience, good work, fasting, prayer and penance done in silence can lead us to greater maturity in Christ.
