Seven Sayings of Jesus on the Cross • Good Friday

Christian believers meditate on the seven sayings of Jesus spoken while He hung on the cross these can be thought of as seven beautiful “flowers” that blossomed from the cross."

1. Forgiveness: The life of Jesus was filled with the spirit of forgiveness, He was able to pray magnanimously for those who crucified Him, saying, "Father, forgive them." Sthevan, too, followed the Lord's example in this very manner. Do we possess this quality of forgiveness within us?

2. Salvation: Soul-winning was the primary mission of Jesus Christ's life. Having come into this world specifically to save sinners, He granted salvation to a repentant thief even in His final moments looking him and declaring: "Today you will be with Me in Paradise."

3. Love: Because Jesus Christ showed deep concern for His mother, He entrusted the responsibility of caring for her to John, saying, "Behold, your mother." Do we possess within our hearts the kind of love that cherishes and cares for our parents, even in their advanced age?

4. Anguish: Jesus Christ personally experienced the agony of abandonment for our sake. Crying out to God, He said, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" Even today, He fully comprehends the anguish of those among you who find yourselves in situations of abandonment; therefore, do not lose heart.

5. Thirst: Jesus Christ declared, "I thirst." This was a thirst for souls. To this very day, He remains thirsty for souls. Will you bring souls to the Lord to quench His thirst?

6. Completion: The Lord Jesus fully completed every task the Father had entrusted to Him and declared, "It is finished." The Apostle Paul, too, affirms, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race." Let us also live in accordance with God's will and run our race to a victorious finish.

7. The Surrender: Finally, Jesus said, "Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit," He breathed His last. This is a prayer recited by every Jewish family at bedtime each night.

Let us reflect! Let us, too, live our lives so that God's will may be fulfilled.
