The CSI Dornakal Diocese, Bishop Designate Rev. Dr. K. Senam Raj
Rev. K. Senam Raj has dedicated his life to the service of God, the Church, and society through pastoral ministry, education, administration, mission, and community service.
His date of Birth is 29/07/1964. He is married to Mrs. K. Vijaya Rani and he blessed with three sons, K. Prem Sagar, K. Vidhya Sagar, who is married to Mrs. Rupa Kiran Mai, they are blessed with a son Elyon Cedar and K. Vinay Sagar
His academic journey includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Bachelor of Divinity from the United Theological College, Bangalore, which laid the foundation for his calling and deepened his understanding of God's Word, pastoral ministry, and the responsibilities entrusted to him by the Church.
He began his pastoral ministry with his first appointment at Kalakodima in 1989. His journey of ordained ministry began with his ordination as a Deacon on 25 June 1989 by Rt. Revd. D. Noah Samuel Thandrigaru, and he was subsequently ordained as a Presbyter on 9 November 1997 by Rt. Revd. Dr. A. Rajarathnam Thandrigaru. Since then, he has served in various congregations and pastorates, including Epiphany Cathedral, Dornakal; Ashwapuram Pastorate; St. Andrew's Church, Kothagudem; St. Paul's Church, Paloncha; St. Peter's Church, Kodada; Holy Trinity Church, NSP, Khammam; Christ Church, Indiranagar; and St. Mary's Church, Khammam.
Over the years, he has also been entrusted with several responsibilities at the Diocesan level, including Diocesan Treasurer, Diocesan Mission & Evangelism Convener, Diocesan Dalit & Adivasi Convener, Diocesan Ministerial Secretary on three occasions, Diocesan Co-Signatory, Group Chairman for Dornakal, Khammam, Singareni and Kodada, Diocesan Property Secretary, Dean of the Diocesan Bible College, Diocesan Registrar, and Bishop's Commissary on two occasions.
His ministry has not been limited to pastoral responsibilities. Believing that the Church has an important role to play in education and the holistic development of society, he has served as Correspondent of DD High School, St. Andrew's High School, and St. Mary's School, and as Principal of the Diocesan Junior College and Bishop Azariah Degree College. He has also served as Business Manager of Bishop White Head Hospital, contributing to the medical ministry of the Church.
At the wider CSI Synod level, he has served as a CSI Synod Council Member, CSI Synod Financial Committee Member, and CSI Synod Executive Committee Member, giving him valuable opportunities to participate in the wider ministry and administration of the Church of South India.
In recognition of his pastoral service, the Government of Telangana honoured him as the Best Pastor of Khammam District on 2 June 2017. He has also contributed to the development and construction of Church institutions and properties, including the construction of CSI Christ Church, Indiranagar; construction work for CSI St. Paul's Church, Paloncha; and the commencement of construction of the CSI St. Andrew's Church parsonage. He has also had the opportunity to gain foreign exposure in England, which broadened his experience and perspective of Christian ministry and the Church.
A significant milestone in his ministry was being honoured with the Doctor of Divinity (Honoris Causa) D.D. by the Andhra Christian Theological College, Hyderabad, in recognition of his excellence and dedicated service throughout 38 years of Christian ministry. Looking back on his journey since his first appointment in 1989, he does so with a heart filled with gratitude to Almighty God, regarding every congregation, every responsibility, and every institution as an important part of a calling to serve God and His people with humility, integrity, compassion, and commitment.
His vision for the Dornakal Diocese is to build a Spirit-filled, united, mission-oriented, financially responsible, and socially relevant Church, where every congregation becomes a centre of prayer, worship, service, and hope. If entrusted with leading the Diocese, his priority will be to strengthen the spiritual life of the Church through prayer, Bible study, discipleship, evangelism, and pastoral care, so that every member grows deeper in faith and every congregation becomes a living witness to Christ in its community.
This vision embraces spiritual renewal and pastoral care; unity and peace within the Diocese; the empowerment of youth and children, who are the Church of today and not merely its future; the strengthening of women's and family ministry; the advancement of education and skill development, particularly for children from disadvantaged communities; the expansion of mission, evangelism, and church growth; care for the poor and marginalised, including Dalits, Adivasis, and persons with disabilities; financial strength and transparency in the administration of Church resources; the planned development of Church institutions and properties; the responsible use of digital tools in Church administration; and the continued development and welfare of clergy.
His vision may be summed up in his own words: “A Spirit-filled Church, a United Diocese, a Stronger Mission, Empowered Youth, Transparent Administration and a Hopeful Future.” True development, he believes, is not only about buildings and finances, but is realised when people grow in faith, families experience hope, young people find purpose, the poor receive dignity, congregations grow stronger, and the Church becomes a blessing to society. With God's grace, collective leadership, and the participation of clergy and laity, he hopes to see the Dornakal Diocese become a model of spiritual vitality, unity, responsible administration, social commitment, and sustainable growth.
