Once a whole class of children of different religious backgrounds from a reputed English medium school came for an excursion to the city of Kolkata. After visiting some important places of the city they came to see a beautiful church and as they came near the altar along with the teacher guide, a small girl who didn't know much about the large Cross placed on the altar, asked the teacher, "Ma'am, why do they keep such a big plus sign➕here on the table?" The teacher felt little embarrassed as the old Priest was standing near by and she rebuked the little girl saying, "What a pity! You even don't know that this is a Cross!" The old Priest interfered and said, "Madam, this little girl was not very wrong when she understood it as a plus sign. Though it is called a Cross, it indeed is a very important Plus Sign in and through which God and humanity were united." The teacher nodded her head and the old Priest gave a happy smile to the little girl.
Lesson: The Cross indeed is the only symbol of punishment in the world that offered a wonderful act of propitiation and atonement for humanity once and for all resulting in perfect Reconciliation between God and humanity.
