Kollam-Kottarakkara Diocese Bishop-Designate: Rev. Jose George • CSI 2025

Rev. Jose George is the Bishop-designate of the Church of South India, Kollam-Kottarakkara Diocese. A senior Presbyter in the Diocese, he has served with pastoral commitment, administrative insight, and social concern across numerous congregations and ministries. Currently, he is serving as the vicar of Christ Cathedral, Kollam and the Clergy secretary of the Diocese.  

Born on 31st May 1970, Rev. Jose was baptized on 6th August 1970 and confirmed in faith on 18th October 1987. He was ordained in the year 2006 after completing his theological education at Kerala United Theological Seminary, Kannammoola. His spiritual journey began in his home church at CSI Church, Asuramangalam.
He hails from a committed Christian family. His father, Mr. K.J. George, served as a volunteer church worker and Headmaster at H.M.L.M.S L.P.S. His mother, Mrs. Gracy George, played a vital role in shaping his early faith. He is married to Mrs. Nisha D, who serves as a Clerk and Computer Instructor at CSI School of Nursing, Kundara. They are blessed with two children – Adna Sara Jose and Ethnan George Jose.

Rev. Jose pursued his early education at Govt. L.P.S Anchal, Govt. H.S Anchal West, and M.T.H.S Valakom. He completed his P.D.C. at St. John's College, Anchal, and obtained his B.A. in Economics from Govt. College, Attingal.

Rev. Jose began his ministerial service even before his theological training, serving in various congregations including CSI Thevannoor (1996), CSI Church Karavaloor (1997–1998), CSI Church Mithramala (1998–1999), and CSI Church Pavithreswaram (1999–2000). After theological formation, he continued his pastoral journey at St. Thomas CSI Church, Mukhathala (2004–2007); All Saints’ CSI Church, Kundara West (2007–2012); All Saints’ CSI Church, Pattazhy (2012–2013); St. Paul’s CSI Church, Kundara East (2013–2018); CSI Church, Attingal (2018–2023); and currently at Emmanuel CSI Church, Mayyanad (2023–present). Across all these appointments, his ministry has been marked by pastoral care, youth engagement, and church development.

Rev. Jose has taken up numerous administrative and leadership responsibilities within the Diocese and the Church of South India. He served as Chaplain at LMS BB Hospital, Kundara from 2007 to 2012, and as the Bursar at Sr. Elizabeth Joel CSI English Medium Higher Secondary School, Attingal. He contributed significantly as the Treasurer of the Diocesan Formation Committee (KKD), and as Area Youth Coordinator of the South Kerala Diocese from 2008 to 2013. He was elected as a Synod Member of the Church of South India (2008–2010) and has held key roles such as Manager of the Properties Board (2015–2016), Manager of the Charitable Society (2017–2019), and Coordinator of the CSI Hospital and Palliative Care Centre in Attingal (2018–2021). Since 2021, he has been serving as the Clergy Secretary of the Diocese, a position he continues to hold.

Rev. Jose has been an active participant in public and social service initiatives throughout his life. During his college years, he was elected as the University Union Councillor and a member of the University Union Executive Committee of Kerala University (1991–1993). He is also an NCC ‘B’ Certificate holder. His involvement in Christian organizations includes serving as the Branch President of the Bible Society in Kundara (2007–2010 and 2015–2016), and as a member of the Kerala Church Council (KCC) and the Church Development Committee (CDC) State Committee. His commitment to the Church extends beyond pastoral ministry into youth leadership, healthcare, education, and ecumenical service.

The Consecration Service of Rev. Jose George as Bishop of the Kollam-Kottarakkara Diocese will be held on 6th August 2025 at CSI Christ Cathedral, Kollam. The service will be led by the Moderator of the Church of South India, the Most Rev. Dr. K. Reuben Mark, as the Chief Celebrant, in the presence of the General Secretary, Adv. C. Fernandas Rathina Raja, Hon. Treasurer, Prof. Dr. B. Vimal Sukumar, Bishops, Diocesan leaders, Presbyters, Evangelists, Synod Directors, and congregations.
