The year 1947 is a very important for the people of India in two ways. One is India's independence on August 15. The other is formation of the Church of South India on September 27. In this year, various special worships and events have been held all over South India and the world for a year to thank Almighty God for establishing the Church of South India and leading us for the past 75 years to fulfill Christ's desire for church unity.
The relationship between the Church of South India and Serampore College is noteworthy for the long time. The Rt. Rev. V.S. Azariah, the first Indian Bishop who played an important role in the formation of the CSI was alumini of our college. There are 49 students studying BD here now from 11 Dioceses of Andhra, Kerala Tamil Nadu States.
On September 27, 2022, Morning Worship led as CSI Day Service by Mr. George Daniel at 8.00 am in CLRC Hall. CSI Liturgy was followed and CSI history was distributed to all the students and teachers. The message was given by Mr. Golden Rathis on the "A NEW PARADIGM OF ECUMENISM." After the service sweet was shared to the community.
In the same day evening, Thanksgiving Holy Eucharist Service was celebrated for the glory of God. The word of God was shared on the theme "A UNIFYING LEADERSHIP IN THE CHURCH."
It is a great joy and an unforgettable celebration to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the CSI formation in this historical place. Serampore College wishes the Church of South India to grow and multiply even more with the prayers!
