The Power of Personal Devotion

Personal Devotion is Personal
I read a quote a few years ago and it has stuck with me ever sense. It goes like this, "The biggest battle you will face in life is your daily appointment with God; keep it, or every other battle will become bigger." How true! Personal devotion is personal as the term itself clarifies. We have a loving God who loves to get personal. He is not a corporate God, he is interested in individuals. He loves to relate one on one, person to person, God and just you alone. God is love and we are the object of His love. He has created us in His own image in love and he also cares for us each day in love. God is relational and we are given that supreme privilege to relate with Him in love.

God relates with all of His creation and creation exalts and glories Him in their own manner. Although humans, the crown of God's creation had missed this relation after the fall, Jesus Christ has opened a new way for us through His death, burial, and resurrection to yet again relate with God. The Holy Spirit also aids in this supernatural relationship. God has done absolutely everything from His side to reconnect us with Him. What are we to do with the free choice at hand? God has nothing to lose, but we have everything to lose if we wilfully forfeit this beautiful relationship that God offers freely.

Some Titbits
Personal devotion is a time where God gets personal with us. He speaks to us. He moulds us. He reveals His plans for us. He begins to direct our steps throughout that day when we voluntarily ask for His guidance and leading. He involves actively in our decision making. Consistent personal devotion says how much we depend on God and displays our humility in acknowledging Him as the King in our lives. When we value God and His plans for our lives, we wouldn't skip our intimate relationship with Him each day. Quiet time will constantly have a telling upon our immature behaviour, our weaknesses, and our shortcomings. It is like hitting a gym. Our spiritual person would grow from strength to strength, from glory to greater glory, from power to greater power. Who wouldn't continue this intimacy with such extravagant results which is available for all to see?

Personal Devotion is Much More Than You Think
Personal devotion is truly powerful because of certain truths that we cannot overlook. The physical world that we live in today is not the true powerful world. This is only temporary and wearing out. Whatever happens here in this world is just the effects of an altogether different world. There is a spiritual world which is unseen but not unaccessible. This is the real world that is permanent and orchestrates every single thing that happens in the physical world we live in. The cause always is in the spirit world, the physical world only receives its effect. Most problems that we have in the physical world cannot be set right in the physical world, that would be like trying to address the effect. We need to get to the cause to address the effect, which is possible only when we get to the other world. If there is a lock in the physical world, the key is available only in the spirit world. This is how important the spirit world is. Just because we don't get to see the spirit world with our naked eyes, doesn't mean it never exists. There are a number of things that are invisible to our eyes but still exists in plenty. So is the Spirit world! "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds." - 2 Corinthians 10 : 4

Spirit World and it's Functions
Our God is Spirit. Our enemy the devil is also spirit. And then we have the Spiritual world. When we connect them all, we get an overall picture. What happens in our personal devotion is, we find an amazing access to the Spirit realm. God welcomes us and invites us in lovingly decoding the matrix of the Spirit realm. We truly have a spiritual awakening. It is mighty powerful! Those who have experienced this will agree wholeheartedly with me. Those who haven't experienced are invited to be a part of such heavenly experiences. God helps us in our quiet time with Him and enlightens us about the various causes that happen in the Spirit world and enables us to decide wisely for ourselves the necessary effects we need on this physical realm. God enables us to master this cause and effect phenomenon of the two different worlds. It is a mind-blowing adventure. No other adventure can ever get closer to this one, that's the guarantee. This is why people who have witnessed the power of personal devotion are hooked to it. They don't want to get out of it. They want to continue in this enriching, rejuvenating and refreshing experience, free of cost.

It is terribly wrong to limit personal devotion to just Bible reading and a word of prayer. That can be the dumbest thing to do. It is like defusing the most powerful explosive that mankind will never get to make. Personal devotion is power. Power cannot be taught. It has to be experienced. As Apostle Paul rightly said, "The Kingdom of God is not a matter of mere talk, but of power!."
