Once a man in prayer went to complain to the Lord saying that his Cross was too heavy for him and beyond his strength to carry it, whereas he felt, all others were carrying smaller crosses than his. The Lord heard his prayer-cum-complaint and so he led the man to come with his Cross into a large room where there were hundreds of crosses of different sizes. The Lord asked the man to keep his Cross at one side and go through all the crosses of the hall and choose the most comfortable one for himself. He was happy for this opportunity and so he went on checking all the crosses in that large exhibition hall. As he began to check, he found one Cross which looked smaller but it was so heavy that he even couldn't lift it, then he found a Cross so light like a sponge wood which he didn't want, then he found a Cross too small in size, then the next Cross was too curved, the next one was too long, the next one was too fatty, the next one had some thorns in it, the next one was little awkward looking, the next one was ugly and so he went on. The man tried to find the choicest Cross for himself and so unknowingly he made several rounds of checking and the Lord was patiently looking at him. At last the man found a Cross at one side which seemed to be very appropriate and fitting for him. The Lord having seen his happy face asked the man, "Do you like that Cross?" He happily replied, "Yes Lord, this one seems to be more fitting than all other crosses that I have checked in this hall." The Lord smiled at him and said to him, "Well my dear son, that was the Cross which was yours only and while entering this hall you kept it there. And now I'm happy that at last you liked your own Cross!"
Lesson: It's wiser to love, embrace and carry our own given Cross instead of complaining to the Lord or to others. Who knows others may have bigger or harder crosses than ours! Most importantly the old rugged Cross that our Lord bore was the heaviest, largest, cruelest, and rarest of all crosses of the whole world.
