Observing 200th Death Anniversary of Rev. William Ward in Serampore College


William Ward (1769–1823), one of the Serampore Trio, was an English pioneer Baptist missionary, author, printer and translator. On March 7, 2023 Serampore College observed 200th Death Anniversary of Rev. William Ward. Rev. William Ward who worked as great missionary in Serampore Mission died of cholera at Serampore on 7 March 1823, and was interred in the mission burial-ground. It is noted that, Ward preached his last sermon in the Mission Chapel at Serampore on Wednesday, 5th March 1823, two days before his death. 

The short program for 200th birth anniversary of William Ward was held in Serampore College to mark the occasion and, after that, garlending the bust of William Ward. Dr. Vansanlura, the Principal was the Chairman who lead the program. Mr. Peter Singh read the poetic prayer related with Rev. William Ward's life. Rev. Dr. SS. Sircar, the Vice Principal of Theology Department garlended the bust of Ward. Finally the program ended with words of prayer by Rev. Dr. Kk. Chatry.
